The University of Information Science and Technology “St. Paul the Apostle” in Ohrid marked its 15th anniversary with a ceremony reflecting its contributions to higher education and research in Macedonia and beyond. Since its founding, UIST has attracted students and professors from over 40 countries, establishing itself as a regional leader in IT, science, and digital innovation.
The anniversary celebration, held at the university’s amphitheater, featured speeches from prominent figures in academia, government, and alumni, highlighting UIST’s accomplishments and its future ambitions. Rector Prof. Dr. Ivan Bimbilovski emphasized the university’s dedication to producing high-quality graduates equipped to tackle global challenges in the fields of information science and technology.

As part of the University of Information Science and Technology’s (UIST) 15th anniversary celebration, a carefully curated program was held, blending speeches, musical performances by the pupils from the Primary Music School “Metodi Patchev” in Ohrid, and video presentations. The event began with national anthems performed by a choir, followed by a speech from Rector Prof. Dr. Ivan Bimbilovski. A trio performed Shostakovich’s Preludium, and a video showcasing UIST’s beginnings was presented. Later, Miss Aleksandra Nastoska Nikoloska, a representative from Ohrid municipality, delivered a speech. Additionally, Mr. Xu Lei, charge d’affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Macedonia addressed the attendees, and several videos on UIST’s international impact were shown.
The day concluded with a presentation of awards for student excellence and a forward-looking discussion on the role of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation in shaping future curricula.
