Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 in Ohrid

The University of Information Science and Technology “St. Paul the Apostle” – Ohrid (UIST) with GEW North Macedonia this year organized the celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) from November 13–19 in Ohrid. The main objective of GEW is to promote entrepreneurship as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and societal development. It encourages individuals to explore their entrepreneurial potential, share ideas, learn from successful entrepreneurs, and gain insights into starting and growing businesses. Throughout the week, there are initiatives that highlight the importance of entrepreneurship in diverse fields, including technology, social impact, sustainability, and more. GEW aims to create a global ecosystem that nurtures innovation, encourages collaboration, and empowers individuals to turn their ideas into viable ventures.

The topic of this year’s GEW panel was “Empower the Green Economy for Eco-Friendly Energy”. The participants on this year’s panel were Associate Prof. Jovanka Damoska Sekuloska, UIST, Patricia Ceysens, CEO of WeWatt and Jovan Jovanoski, WeWatt. Moderator of the event was Associate Prof. Aleksandar Karadimce, UIST. The green economy startup WeWatt has showcased an eco-friendly energy generation desk bikeThis eco-friendly energy solution has been a product of an inspiring and innovative initiative to create a desk bike to charge your phone with human power.  The desk bike’s main panel discussion and showcase were hosted on Friday 17.11.2023 in the UIST Amphitheatre. 

The event has been crucial in fostering an entrepreneurial culture and collaboration to address global energy challenges. It serves as an opportunity for individuals to connect, learn, and contribute to the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem on a global scale.
