The first edition of Startup Weekend Ohrid was held from 15-17 April 2022 in the premises of the University of Information Science and Technology “St. Paul the Apostle” – Ohrid
As announced, Startup Macedonia, the event organizer, provided an entrepreneurial adventure with 54 hours of continuous mentoring support for all participants. A total of 40 mentors supported the 55 participants and selflessly shared their knowledge and experience. The event facilitator Beata Dobsa, the founder of Tripful, has funnelled the participants in the process of presenting ideas and forming teams. Mentors from famous brands and companies such as Cognism, Adeva, Excelerate, Fitkit, Konceptiva, Oracle Corporations, Impact Foundation, NLB Bank, IT Labs, Amnium, Stellar Solutions, Seavus Accelerator and professionals who shared their opinions were an additional motive for success of the startup teams. Mentors from the University of Information Science and Technology were: Prof. Aleksandar Karadimce, Prof. Jovanka Damoska, Prof. Anis Sefidanis participated in the event as judge.
Young startup enthusiasts, freelancers and professionals developed their ideas working in teams and on Sunday (April 17th) presented them to a jury of prominent IT professionals, businessmen and investors. These 54 hours proved to be prosperous, showing that it is possible to develop many creative ideas from which success stories and realized ideal solutions can be born.
The 1st place was awarded to the startup “Advices.mk” presented by Dimitar Chukovski, Anja Popovic and Jovan Ilovski. The Advices.mk is a platform designed for lawyers, but also citizens, so that people who live in inaccessible rural areas can easily get legal services. The following main prizes were awarded to the winners: idea screening and pitch deck design from Networker.com, tickets to Podium-Maribor from Startup Macedonia, € 1000 voucher from Seavus Educational Centre, € 1000 credit from Sefidanis, € 50 credit per team member from FitKit, 20H (hours) mentoring support from Seavus Accelerator, application writing for grant proposal from USAID- BEP; support and co-working space from Kasarna Hub in Ohrid.
The 2nd place was awarded to the startup “Nuts & Bolts” represented by the Petar Mishov, Aleksandar Mukaetov and Natasha Talevski. The Nuts & Bolts is an exchanging game-based experience devoted to achievers and goal seekers (al. killers). The prizes awarded to this team are: idea screening from Networker.com, tickets to DigitalK Sofia from Startup Macedonia, € 500 voucher from Seavus Educational Centre, € 500 credit from Sefidanis, € 30 credit per team member from FitKit; 1 (one) full scholarship or 50% per team member for graphic design from Monday.
The 3rd place got the team lead by Nenad Ristov, Ivana Cepunjoska, Boris Stanojoski and Nikolche Janchov, with the startup “TheDrinkApp”, which is a creative mobile app that avails youngsters try and stay sober and keep on enjoying their party time. The prizes awarded to this team are: idea screening from Networker.com; tickets to spark.me Tivat from Startup Macedonia, € 250 voucher from Seavus Educational Centre, € 300 credit from Sefidanis, € 20 credit per team member from FitKit; 1 (one) full scholarship or 30% per team member for graphic design from Monday.
All participants in the Startup Weekend Ohrid were awarded with access to Oracle4 Startups Program from Oracle, junior founders club profile on Startup Macedonia platform; free access to Nocode Website Building Solution from Enzyme; mentoring support from Startapuvaj Call from FITD, legal and financial advisory from NEST, and custom decal code from Decal.
